Summary

Forgotten Forest 2 is a very well presented horror themed game. The game graphics excel in portraying a dark and dangerous game environment and Richard Bayliss’s superb in-game music succeeds in being appropriately spooky.

But being an on-rails style of game does ultimately stifle what potential the game has and you can’t help but feel that the same enemy types being unnecessarily repeated is just to artificially extend the length of the game.

The 8 way direction shooting mechanism works well but is let down by some poor hit detection as you watch your shots go right through monsters unregistered and the general movement controls just don’t feel smooth as they need to be for a game of this type.

For those of you who persist through some of the monotonous parts of the game, you will be rewarded with some neat graphical effects throughout the game that give off the impression of a living landscape that is hiding many secrets but the payoff may not be what you are expecting in the end.
